Alex’s family was staying in Porto Ercole all of July so I decided to go spend a weekend in the apartment she has. The following weekend my family decided to go visit as well so we all went again. Alex’s apartment overlooks a port called Porto Ercole, it was just over a 2 hour car ride from our house in Rome.
Since it is a small town with only locals no one really spoke English…meaning Alex and I got to practice our Italian (we were 99% sure the croissant was gluten free but couldn’t clarify so Alex just took the risk).
We took a much desired break from a diet of only pizza and pasta and had poke bowls.
Along with no English speaking locals, public transport was also limited so we found ourselves walking 2 hours from one destination to the next as well as around 30 minutes to the beach…all on the main roads.
When we did finally get to the beach we were sad to discover no sand but instead lots of rocks.
By this point I was very excited for my trip to Sardinia in a few weeks!
